Very good hotend. I only print in PLA, but I've lost patience with having to tinker with stock creality hotends every few prints. So far, no tinkering required, and my prints are much better. There is nothing to secure a glass bead thermistor though, and I don't trust it to not work lose, which would be a fire hazard. Buy and replace your glass bead thermistor with a tube type, and then you can secure it with a grub screw. Other than that, perfect so far.

Using a stock Ender 5 Pro for 6 months mostly fine but started to have hot end clogs. Changed the Bowden tube and did the usual cleaning and rebuilding the hot end but nothing worked for long. Decided after running it for 6 months I knew enough to start upgrading so researched all metal hot ends. The Phaetus Dragonfly had great reviews and was a drop in replacement for the original Mark 8 - a big plus for me.

Installing the Dragonfly was straightforward following the instructions provided. No need to change the Marlin firmware so a potential obstacle was removed.

Also fitted a new heater cartridge and thermistor at the same time - why not, they are cheap.

Did a PID tune and some test prints. The Benchy photos used 0.2mm layer height and 4mm retraction. The photos are as it came off the printer.

Print quality is certainly improved over the Mark 8 and I've not had any more clogs.

I've been running the Dragonfly for about 40 hours so far and am delighted with it. I didn't want to move to Direct Extrusion because I wanted to minimise weight of the print head and the approach with the Dragonfly has worked perfectly for me. Only using PLA so far - not progressed to flexible filaments or ABS!

Seems to work not sure how well. Looks and feels well made. I.E. nicely polished. had to design and print a duct for it which I thought could have been provided with it for the amount of money that is being commanded.

Phateus at least seem to be heading in the right direction in terms of quality over quantity albeit there pricing is quite high.

Certainly would recommend Pheatus products it's a shame there aren't any printers to go with them.
